A lost Day

We had a last day on Rarotonga, where we did some Paddle boarding and kayaking. I kayaked over to one of the little islands in the lagoon and wanted to take the island for Bavaria. But I did not have a Bavarian flag with me. Anyway I felt a little bit like Captain Cook when landing on the little deserted island.

Our flight left at 10 a clock in the evening, but it was almost one hour late. All the Maori people, who went to Auckland had a cooler with them, they wanted to check in. They bring their fish and local food with them to New Zealand.

I saw the heavily huge and overweight guy sitting in the waiting area. I do not exaggerate, this person was 195 cm tall and had 300 Kilo (650 pound). “Hopefully the guy does not sit next to us”, I thought to myself. Well he did not, but he sat right in front of me. When the plane started the seat bent more and more into my direction and I was afraid, I would die, if the seat breaks. Buried under 300 Kilos. After a short time the stewardess felt bad for the man and gave him a bigger seat upfront.

So we started on Friday, 30th of January 11pm on the Cook Island and landed 4 hours later on Sunday, the 1st of February at 2am in the morning in Auckland. What happened to the Saturday? I like Saturdays, because I normally go to the recycling center (Wertstoffhof) on Saturdays. That is where you can bring your trash and much more important, where you meet other people from the village and you can have a chat.

This year 2015 will only have 364 days for us. We lost the 31th of January because we crossed the International Date Line during the night. We went to a small room in the airport hotel and had a few hours of sleep. First thing in the morning was to get a card for the phone. We don’t want to be offline.

Now the New Zealand experience can start.
